I know this is a lot of text on the sidebar. Please bear with me, as it'll answer a lot of the questions you might have about me or this tumblr.
I’m a Sailor Moon fan who’s only watched the anime, and I’ve recently tried to start reading the anime. Do you have a recommendation to where I can do that online? A site or a download? I tried reading it on mangafox but it suddenly switched from “Usagi” and “Chibi-Usa” and reading right-to-left to “Bunny” and “Rini” and left-to-right, and I don’t really like it.
I do! If you’re reading the “Bunny” and “Rini” versions, you’re reading the original Mixx translations, which are… not as bad as you might think, the basic heart of the story is still there, but you do lose a lot in the way they translate them, especially the more subtle things of characterization and culture.
Personally, my favorite versions are the Kodansha USA volumes and I greatly encourage everyone to buy them because UGH THEY ARE SO GOOD I LOVE THEM SO MUCH and also I want the Sailor Moon manga to do well. If you can’t afford them, maybe look into seeing if your library has them? I’ve read a fair amount of manga that way, too!
But Miss Dream has scanlated the entire series and I really like what they did with their translations, too! I read the manga for the first time (properly, all the way through, rather than bits and pieces, because I couldn’t stand “Darien” and “Bunny” and “Rini”, either, despite that I don’t think they were bad name choices! just that it’s not my characters and I prefer a bit more literal translations) with Miss Dream’s version and it was wonderful. I’m delighted to hear you’re getting into the manga! The anime has a lot of charm and it did a lot of really cool things that I liked and it’s very cute and has some totally epic moments. But, oh, the manga is PURE PLOT and INTENSITY with moments of absolute adorable, gorgeous cuteness. Naoko’s art is just stunning and I really love the way she wrote absolutely everything. STARS IN MY EYES, OKAY.
I will warn ahead of time that the Sailor Senshi often don’t get a lot of focus—one of the best things the anime did was to focus more on the girls and put the emphasis on their storylines and friendships. They’re still there and important in the series (Setsuna and Chibi-Usa’s relationship will break your heart, Minako is the most hardcore of BAMFs, the Outers still have their epic storyline, etc.) but the heart of the manga is on the main three characters of Usagi, Mamoru, and Chibi-Usa. And it’s so, so, so good, I cannot vomit up enough rainbows to describe my love for it.

SSM’s list of High Quality Sailor Moon Blogs
As requested by a lovely new follower of mine, I have decided to make a list of my top Sailor Moon Blogs! If you aren’t on this list, and I do follow you, please know that I still love you ALL! But I don’t want to over whelm any one.
In no particular order:
sailorfukus : A newer Sailor Moon blog, but always posts unique, and different sailor moon fan art found across the web, and is always amazing about including the source.
oshiokiyo: Another new tumblr with GREAT and unique gifs from Sailor Moon, she is also such a doll and very very nice. She also dabbles in Manga colorings, and is really very good, and also does some edits.
princess-halation: Once again, a newer blog, but has quickly become one of the best for episode, transformation, character, and key item break downs. These break downs are pretty comprehensive, and always include her own gifs and/or images.
girlsbydaylight: This isn’t a strictly sailor moon blog, unlike the other above, but she posts large amounts of beautiful Sailor Moon fan art. She is also willing to break down her thoughts on episodes, and other SM related discussions. The other stuff she posts is mostly Disney, and a few other animes.
petalidistelle: A cute sailor moon blog, with more quality, source listing fan art!
obsessedwithsailormoon: A great blog filled with hundreds of great Sailor Moon Gifs!
foreversailormoon: An absolutely amazing blog! She does mostly Gifs, but is a general all around SM blog. Very high quality, and she is extremely nice!
blue-koneko: Dabbles into a lot of aspects of sailor moon, from gifs, manga scans, manga colorings, and screen caps.
relativity-pudding: A wonderful mixed blog filled with thoughts on episodes, polyvore, edits, fan fiction, and a bit more.
fysailormoon: She is such a darling! I love this woman :D She does great graphics, edits, and manga colorings.
moonlightmiracle: This is a long time, established Sailor Moon blog. This woman is very strong and good person. She posts a lot of manga scans, and high quality images from the art books of SM.
burningmandala: Another well established and active SM blog. This blog is mainly about the live action and the musicals! A must follow if that is your thing!
silvermoon424: One of the best Sailor Moon Blogs out there. Katy is a wealth of information, images, trivia, and random ass facts XD She posts a wide range of things upon request, both from the anime and the manga. Need an image? She prolly has it, or at least knows where to find it!
ladydynamitez: This is the woman of graphics! She does amazing pan shot edits, and graphic edits in general! Always does such beautiful work, and is always open to requests! She does work from the anime, and live action stuff ^^

@fyeahsailormoon - Hands down, my FAVORITE Sailor Moon tumblr, ever. Her graphics are absolutely stunning! She’s not has active these days, but her archive is well, well worth going back through because they’re still some of the prettiest I’ve seen.
@foreversailormoon - A Sailor Moon blog that focuses on gorgeous gifs and screencap photosets. Some of the prettiest coloring on tumblr.
@relativity-pudding - A multi-purpose Sailor Moon blog, but relativity-pudding has some AMAZING discussion posts, too!
@princess-halation - This blog started with episode downloads and a focus on the MOTW posts, but then expanded into talking about the various items and attacks of the anime. It comes along with screencap and gif photosets, which are very informative!
@simplysailormoon - A collection of various Sailor Moon posts, which are fun to go through, but also her manga colorings are gooooorgeous!
@junglegardensenshi - Focusing on the Amazoness Quartet and other more obscure-ish Sailor Senshi, often times this blog posts just pictures, but I’ve found there’s some excellent discussion here, too.
@dumplingheadcanon - A submissions site for people’s headcanons, which often times has some really excellent ideas and sparks some neat discussion.

Oh, this is so pretentious, I know. But it’ll make me feel better to set up some guidelines in my own space, so fuck off if you think this is too full of myself.
ABOUT:
So. I changed my blog name back to girlsbydaylight because I felt it was a better fit for my blog (though, the original account was deleted, so those archives are still gone) and my feelings on fandom right now are basically: COME AT ME, BRO. In that spirit, I have a few things I’d like to make clear about my blog.
POLICIES:
→ Feel free to like/reblog as much as you want! I often go through someone’s tumblr and reblog 30 pieces in a row (well, I drop a lot of them into the queue, but same thing) because I want all those things on my blog, in a way that I can find them again. (Since you can browse by tags, rather than just paging through an endless likes page.) Feel free to do the same! Feel free to reblog a bunch or follow or not follow or just like or whatever you want!
→ Feel free to request anything, if you want. I usually just go by whim, but I’m always happy to hunt down and share more art for any given series if you don’t want to do the hunting yourself. :D
→ Don’t remove art credit from posts. I’m not as fussed about commentary or nerdy talk, but art credit is important! It’s already a fine enough line posting fanart with links (and I do try to include clickthrough links whenever I can, but that’s not always possible with photosets), don’t make it even less cool.
→ Don’t reblog my posts to mock or tear down anyone’s art or any characters. ANY CHARACTERS. You can do what you want on your own tumblr, but I don’t want to be associated your negativity or gross humiliation or shaming of characters. Any of them. Disagreeing and debate are awesome! I love when people actually get me to think! But if you’re reblogging just to be a jerk, then you can gtfo.
PURPOSE OF THIS BLOG:
→ Like it says on the tin, this is primarily a art-posting blog focused on female characters and their relationships. While I deviate sometimes and while I like to talk at length about certain subjects (especially the Sailor Moon manga), that is still and always will be the primary focus. It’s why I came to tumblr and it’s why I stay on tumblr.
→ Sailor Moon and Disney are probably going to be the most consistent over time, but over the last couple of months I’ve started a whole bunch of new series (thank you, emotional instability) and I get quite taken with a lot of them, especially if they have a bunch of awesome chicks in them. (Adventure Time and My Little Pony and Franken Fran, I’m looking at you guys.) Please be aware that this means I’ll cover a fairly large range of series! Primarily anime/manga/cartoons, but often delving into video games and the occasional Glee reblog.
→ I’ve been tagging anything with a bunch of flashing images or moving pictures with “gifs” if you can’t handle them and want to use tumblr savior to block those posts from my blog.
→ No, seriously, I post A LOT. I feel people should be heartily foreward about this!

The new art is really starting to grow on me..
There is new official art in Itally??? D: DO WANT. Where can I find it?? :D
I assume it’s on the Italian website, which has a looooot of art in their galleries! It’s all in Italian, of course, but it’s not too hard to navigate, I don’t think.
You also mentioned wanting to reread the manga on your other account, and I wasn’t sure if you knew that Miss Dream has both English language scanlations (their own translation, not the Mixx/Smile ones) and raw volumes up, both complete. They’re still working on Codename: Sailor V, but they’re a good chunk of the way through it.
(I still have already pre-ordered my Kodansha USA version and I waaaaant the whole series in actual physical volumes, but you have NO IDEA how excited I was when Miss Dream announced the project and getting to read it week by week! I WAS AFRAID I’D HAVE TO WAIT TWO YEARS FOR THE ENDING OMG.)….I LOVE THE INTERNEEEEET <3!!!
I’m curious about how they’ll handle the translation in the new version, so I’ll get them through the library :3 BUT FOR NOW— *ZOOMS!*
(And, zomg, the Italian art is so cute <3 <333 I so wanna see their portrayal of Super Sailor Moon! :D)
One thing I am super curious about is if Kodansha USA will keep the honorifics in their translation, because I’m really hoping so—! It can make a huge difference in how characters’ relationships are portrayed and most manga readers are familiar with them (or can read the glossary, if they include one) and I really missed them in Miss Dream’s translations. It’s still weird to me to have Usagi call him “Mamoru” instead of “Mamo-chan”…!
OH, MAN, I AM SO JEALOUS OF ITALY. They get some of this really cute new art, they had a whole revival thing going on, AND they got that cute-looking DS game…! I know it’s just a little puzzle game but whatever! Sailor Moon on my DS! I want itttttt!
